Cake Mural

2022 summer resident vshir (Vivian H. '25) painted the I'd Rather Eat Cake mural on the wall near the fridges in the kitchen lounge. The cake features asexual pride colors that consist of black, gray, white, and purple. Beneath the cake there is the phrase "I'd rather eat cake" with the ace of spades painted after the period. In the asexual community, aces joke that they would rather eat cake than have sex, as aces do not experience sexual attraction. The sentence can also be interpreted to mean that aces don't find sex to be relevant in their lives.

Vivian, an asexual, painted this mural to increase ace visibility and awareness. From Vivian's perspective, being asexual can feel lonely and isolating at times, so having a mural can build a sense of relatedness among aces. Also, painting a cake mural near the kitchen is a nice way to make the white walls look less boring.

Vivian apologizes for the obvious mistake of the I'd and rather looking like a continuous string of letters. This is what happens when one decides to write and paint the sentence from right to left instead of the other way.
