A two-person body gesture, expressing mutual satisfaction, used in a somewhat similar way to the more socially acceptable "pound it." Introduced to hall and probably overused by Carl Lian and also reluctantly adapted by such hall residents as Amol Aggarwal, Damien Jiang, and Leon Zhou. The gesture is intended to imitate a baby bird being fed by a mother bird.

Performance

All five fingertips on one hand are brought together in the shape of a bird's beak, the fingers remaining straight. To initiate a "feed it" with another person, one performs this hand gesture the toward the other person with the fingertips pointing straight up or straight down and says, very staccato with rounded lips, "feed it!", while slightly moving her hand up and down. The other person will also form a beak with her hand, fingertips pointing in the opposite direction to the initiator's hand and the two people touch fingertips, both moving their hands up and down slightly. A typical "feed it" lasts approximately one second.

Variants

Certain variants are occasionally performed, sometimes by only one person, as they rhyme with "feed it." A good variant of "feed it" has a corresponding hand gesture. Examples of variants are listed below.

  • Heat it
  • Read it
  • Knead it
  • Repeat it
