Every week, FruitComm buys $15-20 worth of fruit and cuts and serves it for hall for the purpose of fighting scurvy! As of 2013, fruit bowl announcement emails include tidbit of fanfic on the adventures of fruit and the battle against the dastardly Scurvy God.

An archive of all the fanfic emails is available.

In 2017, for the first time in recorded history, Fruit Bowl featured actual fruit bowling: pizens bowled a pomegranate into potato pieces (potatoes aren't fruit, but that's okay). Other themes include:

  • Fruitbowl (Except there's no fruit and instead there's questions) - Quizbowl style fruit
  • Fruit, in a bowl
  • Spicy fruit bowl, where salsa was made and served in bowls
  • Technically fruit bowl, where fruits like okra, zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, green beans, and squash were cooked in various ways and served for dinner
