Luge Brothers is a series of movies (loosely) based on the lives of the Linger brothers, Andreas and Wolfgang. They are a popular series on hall, and many current and former Pizens are excited to see the upcoming fourteenth movie.

Luge Brothers

Luge Brothers introduces us to Andreas and Wolfgang ("Wolf") Linger, a pair of hot-headed brothers in a friendly rivalry to win the upcoming Luge World Cup in Winterberg. Andreas and Wolfgang have a strong showing in the final race, but fail to medal. Afterwards, they realize that they have a chemistry that nobody else shares, and decide to train for next year's doubles competition in luge together.

Luge Brothers II

Luge Brothers II revisits Andreas and Wolfgang Linger, now a luge doubles team, practicing for the next year's Luge World Cup. They encounter and overcome many rivals along the way as they earn the respect of their peers and coaches. At the end of the movie, they qualify for the 2006 Austrian Olympics team in luge.

Luge Brothers III

Luge Brothers III takes place a year after Luge Brothers II, and finds the Linger brothers training for the 2006 Olympics in luge. After a chance encounter with an fan, Felicity Loch, Andreas finds himself spending increasing amounts of time with her and not on the slopes. Andreas is torn between his commitments to his girlfriend and his brother, and with the Olympic Trials fast approaching, he has a decision to make. Andreas finally decides to pursue the sport he loves, and qualifies for the olympic team along with his brother. A bittersweet ending has Andreas confessing his decision to retire from luge to his brother as the credits roll.

Luge Brothers IV

Luge Brothers IV features Andreas and Wolfgang Linger competing against Felicity's brother, who she says is one of the greatest luge athletes of all time. This movie's arc is much like any zero-to-hero film, except the Linger brothers get absolutely destroyed at the end. The race isn't even close. Felicity's brother smashes both Andreas and Wolf by every conceivable metric and even sets a course record to raucous applause.

At the end, the Linger brothers realize they've got a long way to go, and they shouldn't waste the opportunity to experience greatness that they'd been given. Andreas decides to return to luge, and the brothers reaffirm their old pledge to push each other to ever-greater heights in their pursuit of athletic perfection.

Luge Brothers V

The entirety of Luge Brothers V is spent following the Linger brothers treating Felicity's brother to lunch and generally being fanboys. The movie features a lot of artistic jump and smash cuts, giving it a disjointed feel that mirrors the fact that this film is the only one without a luge race (and completely deviates from the narrative direction of the previous movies). Nonetheless, it was extremely well-received. It won 8 Oscars (including Best Picture) and 3 Tony awards for its theatrical adaptation.

Luge Brothers VI

Luge Brothers VI's plot is not well-known, and producers and cast members have doggedly avoided the topic in interviews. Nobody who has seen it has left the theater alive.

It is thought that this movie might feature Andris and Juris Sics, inspiring the title of the movie.

Luge Brothers VII

Luge Brothers VII features a rapid-fire sequence of luge races with no motivating explanation or plot. Many believe this was done in part to placate the small minority of fans who were disappointed with LBV. Almost all of these races conspicuously lack Andre and Wolf (and Felicity's brother) as participants. In total, over 200 different lugers from 43 different countries make short appearances in the movie.

Luge Brothers VIII

Luge Brothers VIII features the fastest luge speeds reached by mere mortals as the Linger brothers strive to become the best lugers in the world. When Andreas and Wolfgang Linger suddenly have heart attacks and perish from sheer exhilaration and bliss, it's up to the International Luge Federation to decide whether dying mid-race disqualifies contestants from finishing. The remaining 85% of the movie is devoted to intricate debate over wording quirks and dated rulings.

This movie was also extremely well-received, with a five-minute standing ovation at the movie's premiere at the Vienna Film Festival in 2015.

Luge Brothers IX

Luge Brothers IX starts right where the last movie left off. The Linger brothers come face-to-face with death in the afterlife. As is standard procedure, he challenges them to a battle for their souls, in a game of their choice. Unsurprisingly, the Linger brothers choose to race Death at luge. The resulting race ends up being remarkably unexciting, though. Death spends all his time before the race creating a massive luge track, over 1000 miles long. This leaves him no time for practice, and so the Linger brothers are significantly better at luge than he is. The brothers finish more than an hour before their foolish opponent. Hence, the last hour of the movie is pretty boring.

Luge Brothers X

Luge Brothers X introduces the Linger brothers to a female duo, Lea and Magdalena Berger, known as the "Slalom Sisters". The Lingers and the Bergers become quick rivals, and they set up a competition to determine whether luge or slalom skiing is the easier sport. The competition works as follows: the Lingers will train slalom skiing until they achieve a time in the top 10% of Austrian slalom athletes, and the Bergers will do the same with luge. Whichever pair manages to reach their goal first is the winner, and the other pair's sport will be deemed "easier".

The Lingers win the competition handily, since luge is the most skill-intensive sport ever devised.

Luge Brothers XI

Luge Brothers XI features the Linger brothers and other well-known luge athletes petitioning the IOC to include luge as a sport in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. In order to raise awareness for their cause, they become a rap band and hold a series of concerts around the world, playing mostly cover versions of songs like German Lugers (warning: explicit language).

At the end of the movie, the Linger brothers have become the #4 rated cover group in Germany. The IOC ends up accepting luge as a sport for 2020, but not because of the increased public attention. One of the band members had unearthed a corruption scandal involving the head of the IOC, and the band used it as leverage to pressure him. The band disbands after accomplishing their goal.

Luge Brothers XII

Luge Brothers XII is the spiritual successor to Luge Brothers VI. As with that movie, the plot is not well-known. The few who have gone to see the movie can say nothing but the word "luge" after emerging from the theater, so it is believed that the movie is an improvement over its predecessor.

Luge Brothers XIII

Nobody on hall has seen this movie, but it will be out on DVD soon. The movie features the Luge Brothers training the Slalom Sisters to compete in women's doubles luge in Japan 2020.

Luge Brothers XIV

Luge Brothers XIV is set to be released soon, but almost nothing has been revealed about its plot. The first teaser trailer has been released.
