Math-speak for "I'm about to say something, so you should listen." Initially brought to hall by Ben Zinberg as "Consider the following," but shortened and popularized (read: overused) by such idiots as Damien, Josh, and Brandon.
Sometimes paired, to the horror of all, with "the preceding," or "end the preceding," viz.
"The following!"
"..."
"End the preceding."
